The Schalke youngster Max Meyer has claimed that Spurs were interested in signing him over the summer.

Meyer spoke to the German paper Bild about the interest in the close season: “I know that there was interest and the club was asked,” he said.

“Schalke immediately put a stop to it. So the matter was settled.

“Of course I’ve dealt with it. I know what I have at Schalke and I like to play for this club.”

“When the time comes, we’ll come to a decision. But I feel good about Schalke.”

Though Meyer seems settled for now, his comments indicate that he expects to move in the future.

With the German international having just two years left on his contract at Schalke, it’s likely that he will move on next summer unless the Bundesliga club can persuade him to renew.

It’s therefore possible that Meyer could be on Tottenham’s radar once more at the end of the season. Watch the attacking midfielder in action below.
