Tottenham exited the Champions League with a game still to play in the group stages after a 2-1 defeat in Monaco.
The hosts scored either side of a Harry Kane penalty early in the second half to knock Spurs out of the competition. The final group match against CSKA Moscow at Wembley will now determine who earns a place in the Europa League knockout stages.
It’s safe to say Tottenham fans were not happy. Here’s how some reacted on Twitter.
Shocking. Out of the competition we waited so long to get back into, and with a whimper at that.

This CL campaign is one of few negatives on Poch's CV. We've been dreadful, and deserve embarrassment of an early exit.

Out with a whimper. Not one good performance. What's the point in obsessing over the CL if we're just going to give up when we get there?!

Can't even begin to understand it. Totally bemused by it. Played that game like it was a pre-season friendly.

Monaco are very good but we've not done ourselves justice tonight or all year in Europe. Time to refocus on the impending doom of the world.

Disappointing Champions League campaign for Spurs. Hopefully a learning curve for the players and manager. Monaco were excellent.

No complaints about going out, deservedly so. Wembley performances & tonight simply not good enough, Lloris deserves so much better.#THFC

Out after 5 games, 3 defeats. No sugar coating this. Abysmal. No passion.
— Lilywhite Rose (@lilywhite_rose) November 22, 2016
System, personnel, levels of concentration and effort… all shambolic. Most of this applies not just tonight but most of this CL campaign.

Adore Poch, but he's mugged himself right off in this CL campaign. Understand it's his first campaign but looks like he's learnt nothing.

I’m old. Don’t have overbearing expectations or sense of entitlement. Just want them to give it a go. Be contenders. I’ve been let down

That was one of those games where the result was irrelevant so bad and dispiriting was the performance. We looked like we didn't care.

Some fans don't like him but Lamela always sets the standard for pressing throughout the team. We look a yard off the opposition without him
— Jack (@JackBrooksbank_) November 22, 2016
we have been rubbish all season but wont admit it.
Poch tactically useless—-Klinsman available, take him straight away!!
I never thought that I could detest a Spurs manager more than AVB, but congratulations MP, you leave him in your trail. Why don’t you just do the honourable thing and resign. You are clueless and totally out of your depth. Our mini collapse at the end of last season should have set off the warning bells. It is obvious you have lost the dressing room and cannot motivate the players.Resting our 2 best defenders for a league match the next weekend in an effort to win a Champions League place next season,a competition we were in this season but treated with contempt is beyond comprehension. As for the Spurs fans who like MP and defend him, I suggest they learn about football..MP OUT.
Its too early calling for MP to be sacked but I have to say he looked out of his depth tonight and his selections were strange. We paid 30 million for a useless player in Sissoko who has no right to be playing in the Premiership never mind the Champions League. I also fell Eriksen is a complete passenger and its like playing with a man short when he is in the team this season. Eric Dier also looks like he is half the player he was and Dele Alli is not performing at the required level if we are to challenge this season. Last year they looked like a motivated hungry side who hunted the ball until they got it back. This year they look a tired bunch who would rather be on holiday and couldn’t care less. Very disappointing
We are getting worse no flare in midfield why is dier not playing in midfield I don’t know, sissoko and wanyama rubbish. Mp plays the same system every game lucky to be unbeaten in the league we just look awful at the moment
Where do you start after that abysmal performance. So hard to understand what Poch was thinking when he picked that team. As others have said, they work hard all last season (with the exception of the last 3 or 4 games) to get into the Champions League, and then, after telling us it was a must-win game, he leaves 2 or 3 1st teamers out. The back 4 looked as though they’d never met, never mind about never playing together before. The midfield was devoid of all creativity and effort, Son looked like a pub-team player and Kane hardly got a kick. And who is doing the scouting and buying? Last summer it was N’jie, this summer N’koudo. Neither was cheap and yet they don’t get on the pitch. Then there was Soldado, Paulinho, etc, now it’s Janssen and Sissoko. And Eriksen still can’t clear the 1st man! Heaven help us!
It is too early to call for MP’s dismissal, but he appeared out of his depth tonight, and his selections were odd. We paid $30 million for Sissoko, who has no right to play in the Premier League, let alone the Champions League. I also believe Eriksen is a complete passenger, and playing with him this season is like playing with a man short.
