When Burnley took the lead in the first half at White Hart Lane, it felt like one of those days for a Tottenham side that sometimes struggles to break down lesser teams at home.
Dele Alli’s equaliser helped Spurs to settle before half time. The hosts went on to dominate but found it difficult to break down a resilient Burnley side.
Moussa Sissoko’s introduction proved crucial: he set up the excellent Danny Rose for the winner and the hosts took all three points.
Here’s how Twitter reacted to the result and performance.
Not a vintage win , but 6pts out of possible 6 this week & more importantly 6pts clawed back on Arsenal, back right in the mix. #COYS#THFC

Good stuff from Sissoko creating for Rose who finished superbly. Very loud cheer for that one, fans know how big a win will be today. #THFC

Kyle Walker (4) now has twice as many assists as Mesut Özil in the Premier League this season. #COYS

I’m singing the blues when Tottenham win and Arsenal lose! Merry Xmas everyone!!

Useful 3pts, patchy performance aside. Did well to recover after conceding, can’t do much more against a team that hasn’t come to play #THFC

Difference between a result and performance. Lots of quality from Tottenham. Sissoko played well. Rose stole the day. Point behind the scum

Spurs get 3 points too. Sissoko impressive off the bench (again), Rose looking like a future Ballon d’Or winner (again). Poch in. ?

Sissoko looks like he’ll be one of those players who looks better off the bench with a point to prove. Start him and he’ll probably go awol
