Speculation has been rife all week surrounding potential replacements for Jan Vertonghen, who injured his ankle against West Brom last weekend and will miss the next six weeks of Tottenham’s busy schedule.
Mauricio Pochettino has made his decision — Kevin Wimmer comes in at centre back as Spurs stick with a defensive three for their trip to Manchester City.
The rest of the team remains unchanged after the hugely impressive display against West Brom.
Here’s how Twitter reacted to Wimmer’s selection and the rest of the team news.

#thfc Wimmer replaces injured Vertonghen and looks set for a run in the team now, almost exactly a year after the same scenario occurred.

Zabaletta/Kolorov/Otamendi/Clichy.

With Yaya 'protecting' them.

I do not fancy Yaya Toure's chances up against that Spurs midfield…
