Tottenham captain Hugo Lloris will miss his side’s Premier League encounter with Sunderland through illness, as Michel Vorm deputises for the Frenchman.
There is good news, too, thankfully. The trio that missed out against Wycombe Wanderers through injury — Toby Alderweireld, Danny Rose and Harry Kane — all return to the starting eleven. Kane captains the side in Lloris’ absence.
It looks like Spurs are going with a back four, with Eric Dier partnering Alderweireld at centre back. Vincent Janssen, who impressed as a substitute against Wycombe, is on the bench.
Here’s how Twitter reacted to all the team news.

Exactly as I predicted bar Vorm in goal. Wycombe may have been the last straw for Wimmer? Good team. https://t.co/h1CA3qUOrR

Another faked Hugo Lloris injury on transfer deadline day?

#thfc Defoe & Pienaar in squad vs former club. Ndong & Kone straight back in after returning from AFCON. Lescott on bench. https://t.co/O4LJPiYkLj

Interested to see how Son, Dele Alli, Eriksen & Kane link-up tonight, can really put Sunderland to the sword if all on form. #COYS#THFC

#thfc Son probably deserves a start in the league after scoring 5 times since Christmas. Spurs still need full-backs to get forward though.

A return to 4-2-3-1 means being almost entirely reliant on Dembele bringing the ball out from the back. Let's hope he's up to it today.

Good team. Shame Hugo is Ill but if we are where we claim to be, it shouldn't matter up there. Vorm is an ample step in #COYS

Not that I'm not a Vorm fan but missing Hugo Lloris is massive with Jermaine Defoe up top for Sunderland. Bricking it #COYS

So great to have the quality of @Vorm_Official to step up when Hugo is out.
