After falling out of favour at Tottenham, Nabil Bentaleb has enjoyed a new lease of life on loan at Bundesliga side Schalke.

The midfielder has been nominated for the ‘Rookie of the Year’ award in Germany after a string of impressive displays at his temporary home.

Now it seems the 21-year-old Algerian is set to make his loan move permanent in the summer.

Sky Sports believe that when Bentaleb makes his 20th appearances of the season against Koln this weekend, he will trigger a clause that will allow Shalke to sign him permanently for around £16 million.

It’s a shame Bentaleb didn’t fulfil his potential at White Hart Lane, but there is a degree of trust in Mauricio Pochettino when it comes to departures.

Bentaleb’s attitude clearly wasn’t satisfactory in the eyes of the Spurs manager.
