Tottenham’s title bid all but ended after a 1-0 defeat at West Ham kept the point between first and second at four points.
Chelsea play their game in hand against Middlesbrough at Stamford Bridge on Monday night and the leaders will go seven points clear with a victory.
Spurs looked off the pace at the Olympic Stadium with a number of players not performing to their usual standards.
Manuel Lanzini scored the only goal midway through the second half and Mauricio Pochettino’s side failed to find an equaliser.
Here’s how Twitter reacted to the performance and result.
Been an incredible run, nine on the bounce, once again Spurs the only team to hang with runaway leaders. But not a good place for it to end.

After everything that's happened recently how can anyone question this team? We're fucking great and we're blessed to support them #COYS

Hammers prick the bubble. I absolutely refuse to knock #Spurs. They have given us a magnificent season. Thank you Poch's Pups #WHUTOT

The amazing run ends. We looked leggy tonight and off the pace. Still proud of this team what a great season still

Spurs so off-colour but West Ham's low block was impressively effective. We rarely turned them as they were so deep/organised.

Not good enough. We know how up for it they always are, no excuses! Title was gone before today but we've been uncharacteristically bad ??

27 points from the last 30. Only team to have put any pressure on CFC. Sorry it doesn't suit the narrative but Spurs have 'bottled' nothing.

Absolutely gutted. Pretty rough day for my two teams. We will be back. We have a great squad and we'll bounce back stronger. #WHUTOT #COYS

Fair play, West Ham.
You are always going to have these days, especially after nine wins on the bounce. Tonight simply wasn't our night.

Title was probably out of reach before tonight but proud of this bunch of players. Disappointed but overall a wonderful season, #coys.

We were bound to have an off day eventually. Spectacular season, incredible football, best Spurs team of my lifetime.

Chelsea are gonna win their remaining games anyway… right? Right? *sobs for 3 hours*

44 years old, best team of my lifetime too,be loud be proud like I said last year “no worries we will win it next yeat” lose walker and sissko thats 60 million, lamela, winks, rose to come back, trust me nkondou and janson will come good, another striker centre half and wing back maybe the guy from BM WE WILL WIN THE LEAGUE AT WEMBLEY COYS
COME ON YOU SPURSSSSS?How can anyone say our boys bottled it!!! I would like to have seen ANY team break West Ham down last night, that was the deepest, harassing, not letting us breathe for a second hammers team we have ever played end of!!! So proud of the team this season,we are on the up and no doubt will reach the pinnacle very soon no doubt about that.As for Walker….he obviously wants more money and his performances the last few weeks have been mediocre, sell anyone who doesn’t want to be part of our great young team.Just shows the greed nowadays if you want to leave a project as good as ours.Sell him and put Tripps in.Need 2-3 class players to make our team complete.Anytime we look at our bench there’s no one of class calibre to call upon.Get the cheque book out Levy and let’s do this?COYS!!!!!!
WELL SAID C.OY.S
Does anyone agree that Lloris is the worst choice of captain?? Great keeper for us and no doubt has influence, not doubting that at all,but cmon!!! When the chips are down and the boys need rallied together and boosted or even a kick up the arse then he’s not the guy who does that.We have influential leaders in that team like Alderwiereld,Vertognghen,Dembele,Kane, the list goes on.I just wish Poch would see this and appoint an outfield player to do this.We need it now.
Gooner here. Have to admit Spurs played excellent football all season but just fell short, especially in a season when my team was crap, but we will be back when Kim Jong Weng departs.
How can people say we bottled it? Get real, we were never going to win it, we were 10 points behind, we won 9 consecutive premier league games. We are the only ones who have challenged Chelsea. Liverpool, draw again at home to Southampton who have nothing to play for but no one is talking about them bottling not only the league but top 4. These idiots saying we have bottled it need a reality check.
