Tottenham are interested in signing Swiss midfielder Denis Zakaria this summer, according to reports coming out of Switzerland.

Zakaria is a 6ft 3in holding midfielder who currently plays for Young Boys (remember them?) in the Swiss Super League.

The 20-year-old joined Young Boys in 2015 and is already a first team regular. He has also made three appearances for Swiss national side, travelling with his country to Euro 2016 last year.

Swiss newspaper Bilk claims Spurs and Liverpool both want to sign Zakaria this summer, and that he could cost just £8.5 million.

Liverpool are probably more in need than Tottenham when it comes to defensive midfielders. Spurs already have two capable enforcers in Victor Wanyama and Eric Dier, although the latter has been linked with a move to Manchester United.

Zakaria fits the bill in terms of what Pochettino wants: he is young, athletic and full of potential. It will be interesting to see if this one materialises.
