Chelsea are targeting Bournemouth defender Adam Smith for a summer transfer, according to The Sun.

Earlier this week, we relayed reports suggesting Smith is attracting interest Tottenham if Kyle Walker leaves for Manchester City.

Walker has been left out of the starting line-up for a number of big games recently, and a row with Mauricio Pochettino hasn’t helped matters.

Smith left Spurs permanently in the summer of 2014, just before Mauricio Pochettino arrived. But it is believed the Argentine has been impressed with what he has seen of the 26-year-old this season.

However, The Sun claims Chelsea sent scouts to watch the right-back in Bournemouth’s draw with Stoke City last weekend, and the Blues could move for him this summer.

Chelsea could probably offer Smith better money than Tottenham, but a manager like Pochettino might be better for his development.

There’s a chance Smith isn’t keen on returning to Spurs after being loaned on seven occasions during his time at the club.
