Tottenham are working on a deal for Atletico Madrid striker Kevin Gameiro this summer, according to reports in Spain.

Gameiro joined Atleti from Sevilla for around £28 million last summer and has scored 16 goals in 46 appearances for the La Liga side.

But the striker has struggled to nail down a place in the starting eleven ahead of Antoine Griezmann or even Fernando Torres.

Spanish publication AS believe Spurs are interesting in bringing Gameiro to England this summer, and are lining up an offer of around £26 million for the 30-year-old.

Don Balon, another outlet in Spain, claim the two clubs are already in advanced negotiations over the player, and that a transfer should happen “in the coming days.”

Despite his age, The France international would be a good fit for a Mauricio Pochettino team. His work-rate is excellent and he would offer the runs in behind that Tottenham’s strike-force currently lacks.

Gameiro would make a decent partner for Harry Kane in that regard, but his arrival would probably seal Vincent Janssen’s fate. The Dutchman has been linked with a move to Galatasaray this week.

  1. Why not sign Gameiro or Dembele (Celtic) and keep Janssen. Show ambition to launch assault on all fronts. I believe Janssen will hit 2nd season top form syndrome…3 excellent strikers plus Son who can also play striker. Allows 2 striker option with quality bench back up.

    • That sounds great to me. I also believe that jansen will come good after a season to settle in England. He works hard and obviously knows where the goal is. If we can keep most of our squad plus add a quality striker and winger i think well be able to compete in all competitions.
