Tottenham are expected to sign Fulham defender Ryan Sessegnon this summer, according to The Liverpool Echo.

Spurs have been tracking the 17-year-old for a while now and emerged as favourites to sign Sessegnon ahead of Liverpool earlier this week.

The Echo claims Liverpool have now pulled out of the race to sign the left-back, turning their attentions to other targets instead.

The story’s author, Neil Jones, went as far to say on Twitter: “He’s off to Spurs.”

Jurgen Klopp had been keen on signing Sessegnon to develop and eventually take over left-back duties from James Milner in the Liverpool side.

But Jones understands Liverpool were unsure about Sessegnon’s commitment to a move to Anfield. Those doubts have seemingly come to a head.

The England U19s international has been offered a professional contract by Fulham but Tottenham will look to swoop before he signs it.

Sessegnon scored seven goals in all competitions last season and, if signed, should prove a worthy understudy to Danny Rose while providing further competition for Ben Davies. He can also play as a left winger.

  2. He is only a young kid don’t know what all the fuss is about. We need a young dynamic player who has premiership experience. Not a 17 year old who has played a handful of games in the championship. His agent have certainly hyped him up.

  3. I heard he wants to stay in London and work with a manger that has an excellent record for developing an promoting youth
