Tottenham and Liverpool are set to battle it out to sign PSV defender Santiago Arias, according to reports in the player’s native Colombia.
AS Colombia claims both Premier League clubs are keen on the right-back, who has won four Eredivise titles with PSV. The 25-year-old is believed to be committed to leaving the Dutch side in the coming transfer window.
Arias is apparently being lined up as a replacement for Kyle Walker, who has been strongly linked with a summer move to Manchester City.
Kieran Trippier has become Spurs’ first choice right-back in recent weeks, while academy product Kyle Walker-Peters is keen to make his mark next season.
But Tottenham are eager to sign competition for Trippier as they look to improve in two major competitions next term.
Monaco full-back Djibril Sidibe has also been mentioned as a possible Walker replacement. Arias would probably be considerably cheaper than Sidibe and his wages are likely to be more affordable.
