Last week The Express ran a story claiming Tottenham want to re-sign Adam Smith from Bournemouth this summer.
Kyle Walker is expected to join Manchester City in the coming weeks. If he does leave, Spurs will need to sign a quality right-back to provide competition for Kieran Trippier.
Smith has been touted as Walker’s replacement, but the 26-year-old has revealed he is likely to stay at Bournemouth instead of rejoining Tottenham.
In quotes published by The Mirror, Smith said: “Transfer talk is part of football and speculation builds at the end of every season.
“It is always nice to be talked about in a positive way, because it means you are doing something right. I would rather that than be getting bad press.
“But I am a Bournemouth player and planning to have a nice holiday and then come back here next season.”
He added: “To finish where we did last season was a great achievement for the lads, the staff and the whole club. Hopefully we can stay together and try and have an even better season.”
While a transfer seems unlikely right now, there is a long way to go in the transfer window and a number of factors will play a part in the future of various Spurs targets.
