Tottenham have identified Portuguese defender Ricardo Pereira as their number one target to replace Kyle Walker, according to reports in the English press.
Yesterday we relayed a story that suggested Spurs are set to begin talks with Manchester City over the potential transfer of Walker. Apparently the fee could be as high as £60 million.
If that happens, Tottenham will obviously have to pursue a replacement. Joel Veltman and Matthias Ginter have been linked with moves to North London. Both prefer to play at centre-back but can slot in on the right.
But it looks like Pochettino wants to sign a genuine right-sided defender. The Telegraph and The Mirror both claim Porto defender Ricardo Pereira is now Spurs’ number one target to replace Walker.
The 23-year-old, who can play at right-back or right wing-back, has spent the last two seasons on loan at French club Nice and has made a big impression in Ligue 1.
Porto are believed to value Pereira at around £20 million, less that half the fee Tottenham should receive for Walker.
Judging by his performance last night, we have a ready-made replacement in Trippier. Thought the lad looked very good and not fazed by the occasion. Save the money and buy Mbappe!
