Tottenham have made a bid for Borussia Dortmund defender Matthias Ginter, according to reports in Germany.
Earlier this month, we relayed reports suggesting Spurs were interested in making a move for the 23-year-old.
Now, German outlet Bild claims Tottenham have made an offer. The exact fee isn’t mentioned in the report, but Dortmund are believed to value Ginter at £15 million.
Primarily a centre-back, the German has also been known to slot in at right-back and defensive midfield. At 23-years-old, the versatile defender sounds like a perfect match for a Mauricio Pochettino team.
Ginter would provide competition for Eric Dier on the right of a back three. He would also challenge Kieran Trippier for his spot at right-back if Kyle Walker makes his expected move to Manchester City.
Spurs are looking to consolidate their options in defence by offering new contracts to Trippier and centre-back Toby Alderweireld. Kevin Wimmer is expected to leave the club.
Signing Ginter, or a versatile alternative, would add both quality and depth to the squad.
