Bundesliga club Borussia Monchengladbach are preparing a £12 million bid for Vincent Janssen, according to reports in Germany.
German newspaper Bild claims the 23-year-old is dissatisfied with life at Tottenham because of his losing battle with Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son to become one of the team’s first-choice attackers.
In 27 appearances last season, Janssen managed only two goals and two assists. In fairness he got better towards the end of the campaign, and many of his appearances were only short cameos.
But a vast improvement is needed if the Dutchman is to become a regular in the Spurs side. Harry Kane scored 29 goals in 30 appearances last term, making him just about undroppable.
Mauricio Pochettino doesn’t seem keen on the idea of playing Janssen and Kane together, so the former will have to take his opportunities if Kane struggles with injuries again next term.
£12 million would represent a £5 million loss for Tottenham, but it might be the best they can do. Alternatively, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Spurs give Janssen another year to prove himself in England.
Janssen will stay IMHO.
Janssen is not going anywhere and if anyone thinks that Levy is going to take a 5 million quid loss on him, they’re delusional!
