Arsenal broke their transfer record earlier this week to bring in French striker Alexandre Lacazette from Ligue 1 club Lyon.

Sensing an opportunity, Tottenham fans were quick to remind the Gunners about an encounter between former left-back Benoit Assou-Ekotto and Lacazette in a Europa League game at White Hart Lane four years ago.

Spurs beat Lyon 2-1 in a round of 32 first leg clash at the Lane thanks to two stunning Gareth Bale free-kicks either side of a Samuel Umtiti wonder-strike.

In hindsight, the moment of the match might have belonged to Assou-Ekotto, who brilliantly nutmegged Lacazette to the delight of the home supporters. Video via Simply Spurs.

  1. Really?
Season hasn’t started & you saddos are that threatened you’re digging in the archives for a 3 second clip?
You guys are officially the funniest little club in Europe. But as you have no trophies or titles to talk about I guess this is all you have. Bless.
Still champions League next year, eh? Yayyyyy! COYS!

  2. Comment:we might not have trophies as you have said but I have won European trophies in the past. my question is as a club can you mention one European trophy your club has ever won???? looser!!!!

  3. Silly little goonies getting excited, miles behind spurs – I don’t take any notice of them, just laugh at their fans like the rest of the premier league do.

  4. Comment: hello guys I know how it feels to be a patriotic fan of a club pls can you guys stop using insultive words at each other it is really bad for the game of football.

  5. Arsenal have paid over the odds for a decent French Striker, using the Sanchez sale funds! Although, i have a suspicion he will walk on a free next summer.
The transfer to transform the Woolwich is a new manager, thankfully the pensioner remains in situ.
Lets see how they react in the Prem with the Europa league to contend with. They will realise how difficult it is to play Thursday night football and get into top 4- whoever they sign. This is the reason they were above Spurs for so long, the tide has now however turned…. suck it up fellas, its gonna be a long and hard season

  6. the south london nomads are restless today seams like they missed the st totterings day party this year shame get used to it scummy club followed by even more scummy fans
