Manchester United are still interested in signing Eric Dier this summer, according to The Telegraph.

The report claims United have already had an initial offer for the 23-year-old rejected, but Daniel Levy and Ed Woodword have continued to hold talks over a potential deal in the background.

Spurs apparently value Dier at around £50 million but are under no pressure to sell the midfielder.

United’s interest may have been reignited because of a possible breakdown concerning Nemanja Matic’s transfer to Old Trafford.

It is believed Chelsea are reluctant to strengthen a rival by selling the Serbian to United. There is also further bad blood between the clubs after Joe Mourinho hijacked Chelsea’s move for Romelu Lukaku.

Dier has been a key part of an impressive Tottenham team under Mauricio Pochettino’s management. That said, there has been an ongoing debate over the England international’s best position.

Still, it would be extremely difficult to replace a player as versatile as Dier. For me, Spurs would be wise to keep hold of him.

  1. Spurs would be stupid to sell Dier especially when he has so much to offer. I would have thought that Levy had learnt his lesson by selling our best players to Man Utd especially when we can’t replace them.
But, as everyone knows Mr Levy is only interested in money and if he wants to fill his new stadium next year we must have our best players and be in the Champions League.
if I was Mr Pochetino I think I would be looking for another club if he continues to sell our top players and not buy any future players quickly so they can be bedded in to his style of playing.
