Jose Mourinho wants Manchester United to make a bid of £60 million for Eric Dier, according to The Mirror.

Dier has been linked with a move to Old Trafford since May, and United have already apparently had a £50 million offer turned down.

Despite reports suggesting Daniel Levy had been in talks with United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward over the potential sale of Dier, Spurs are thought to be unwilling to entertain any bids for 23-year-old.

But Mourinho believes the club should do everything possible to sign Dier, and it looks like he thinks £60 million could be enough to tempt Tottenham into selling.

United had been set to sign Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic, but Mourinho’s hijacking of the Blues’ move for Romelu Lukaku has caused tension between the two clubs.

That means United will have to look elsewhere for a new holding midfielder, starting with Dier. However, it’s very unlikely the England international will leave considering how highly Mauricio Pochettino rates him.

In any case, Spurs have already said no one will be sold for non-footballing reasons this summer. Kyle Walker is the only first-team player expected to leave the club.

  1. Well Maureen is wrong. £60 million will not be enough because he is not for sale. How thick must they be up North not to understand that?

    • Nor was Bale or Berbatov or Pogba or any other great player who left their team to go to another. Money talks. How thick must you be to not understand that?

  2. Don’t give them the satisfaction Tottenham, we don’t want to sell our best players to our rivals. Anyway, the fans of Manchester United do not want him.

  3. Somebody tell me Dier did not admit an interest on moving to MU? His career is on a meteoric rise with the best football playing team in the PL. Best coaching, soon to be best stadium and a rising world wide interest that is second to none.
