Tottenham have been in touch with Serie A side Genoa regarding two players — Giovanni Simeone and Diego Laxalt — according to reports in Italy.

We’ve already relayed reports suggesting Spurs hold an interest in Simeone. The 22-year-old Argetine striker is the son of Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone.

Now, Genoa-based newspaper Il Secolo XIX (spotted by Calcio Mercato), is claiming Tottenham have made contact with Genoa about Simeone and Laxalt.

Laxalt is a 24-year-old winger from Uruguay who has previously been linked with Chelsea.

A combined fee of €35/40 million is being touted for the duo. Below you can watch some of Laxalt’s best bits.

  1. I am fed up with media nonsense relating to Spurs linked transfer targets, Daniel Levy will not spend more than he has to until we are safely back home at White Hart lane and assess the financial damage until then I think we can forget about a title challenge this year.

  2. In my opinion we will only sign big player and thats its. I think levy is being smart and announcing too much too quickly hoping that the media doesnt talk about us too much

    • Think about it, every good player we have we bad when signed. Examples, Kane, Eriksen, Dele ect.
The times we spent big money on a player, the flopped. Examples, Sissoko, and Lamela. This guy has a chance to be great. To put this in better words, Eriksen was as good as this guy when he was at Ajax. Come on you Spurs. We must sign him.

  3. Tim What do you mean, It’s all the media talked about. No signings and linking us with everyone we’ve never heard of. Oh and Ross Barkley.
I just hope it gets all sorted early and not on deadline day (if any) it’s disruptive and these slow starts to the season cost us at the end.

    • Just because you’ve never heard of him doesn’t mean he doesn’t exist.. or is not good enough!! You should broaden your football horizons, Laxalt plays for a team in the top flight of Italy as well as one of the best international teams in south America.. he’s not playing in an obscure league in a country noone knows the existence of!! I’ve heard of him and seen him play. You’d rather we other pay for Ross Barkley, who’s completely useless just because you’ve heard of him?

  4. Chris I didn’t say we shouldn’t get players that I’ve never heard of. But at 35m is hardly a steal. Like an unknown modric bale and Ali were. Spending big is a risk. My main point was sorting transfers out early.
By the way i don’t want to sign Ross Barkley he’s not a consistent player, would have rather have got siggy back for same money.
