Erik Lamela and Vincent Janssen have been left out of Tottenham’s 25-man squad for the Champions League group stages.
Harry Winks and Kyle Walker-Peters are also absent from the list, but they are eligible to play as they are “club-trained”.
It’s likely Lamela has been left out because of concerns over his recovery from injury. He had been expected to return in October, but that might not be the case.
Janssen’s absence is unexplained, but it looks like he’s missed out simply because Spurs have too many important players.
The Dutchman very nearly joined Brighton on deadline day – I wonder if he now regrets turning down a move.
Tottenham’s full 25-man squad is listed below.

Strange they were not named when there are only 21 on the list…
Something to do with only having 7 home-growns including Winks and Walker-Peters. Davies is Welsh so we are allowed 21 in the squad instead of 25.
