It’s safe to say Tottenham have been better on the road than they’ve been at “home” so far this season.
Spurs won 2-0 at Newcastle on the opening day. That was followed by defeat to Chelsea and a draw with Burnley at Wembley before the 3-0 win at Everton over the weekend.
Away from home, Mauricio Pochettino’s side have picked up this season where they left off last. Tottenham finished the previous campaign with two highly impressive away performances, beating Leicester City and Hull City 6-1 and 7-1 respectively.
Bill Edgar of the Times has looked a little deeper into the numbers. It turns out Spurs’ plus-16 goal difference over their last four away games is, according to Edgar, “the best such run in the top flight since Sunderland’s plus-18 in 1892.” That’s 125 years!

Let’s hope that stat comes in handy when we play at the Bernabeu and in Dortmund.
To say that Spurs have been a confident unit away from home over recent seasons
is an understatement. Fantastic stuff.
Even if we are good away I’m still dreading going to the Bernabeu
