Mauricio Pochettino has hinted new signing Serge Aurier could play in Tottenham’s Champions League group opener against Dortmund at Wembley on Wednesday.
Aurier joined Spurs from Paris-Saint Germain on deadline day for a fee of £23 million. He is seen as a direct replacement for Kyle Walker, who left for Manchester City earlier in the summer.
Kieran Trippier started in the 3-0 win at Everton on Saturday, while Aurier was an unused substitute.
But when asked if Aurier could make his debut for the club against Dortmund, Pochettino said: “Maybe, maybe.”
The Argentine is obviously holding his cards close to his chest, but it wouldn’t surprise me if he does opt for Aurier’s pace against a quick Dortmund attack.
