The previous record of 76,098 was set when Manchester United beat Blackburn 4-1 at Old Trafford in March 2007.
Spurs almost broke it in August when 73,587 fans watched the 2-1 defeat to Chelsea at Wembley.
The club finally set the new record against Liverpool, a fitting game for the occasion.
Harry Kane opened the scoring early on before setting up Son Heung-Min for the second soon after.
Mohamed Salah replied for the visitors but a Dele Alli volley and another Kane strike secured the points for Tottenham.
Spurs’ next match at Wembley is against West Ham in the EFL Cup on Wednesday.
Tickets are still available for our @Carabao_Cup clash with West Ham this Wednesday! ?
