Tottenham are still interested in signing Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes, according to reports in Spain.

Gomes, who joined Barcelona for €35 million in the summer of 2016, was believed to be close to agreeing a deal with Spurs on deadline day, but nothing materialised.

At first it looked like he would join on loan, but then Tottenham tried for a permanent deal.

Last week, Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo reported that Spurs “maintain” their offer for Gomes, although it’s unclear if the club is dealing with Barcelona or Gomes’ agent, Jorge Mendes.

Juventus have also been linked with Gomes, but they have apparently cooled their interest.

I think a January move for Ross Barkley is more likely – he should be cheaper due to the fact he has just a few months left on his Everton contract.
