Toby Alderweireld is set to undergo a new scan on his torn hamstring in two weeks, according to Belgian football expert Kristof Terreur.
The defender hasn’t played for Tottenham since pulling up in the win over Real Madrid earlier this month, and he is expected to be out until after January.
Terreur claims Spurs are being careful with Alderweireld because there is a high recurrence rate with his kind of injury.
Tottenham have struggled defensively during the Belgian’s absence, so it’s crucial he is given the time to fully recover to avoid further lay-offs.
Meanwhile, England and Belgium have been drawn in the same group for next summer’s World Cup – you can watch Eric Dier and Jan Vertonghen react to the draw here.
