Toby Alderweireld has revealed he may have to undergo surgery on a muscle tear that could see him sidelined for 14 weeks.
The defender injured his hamstring in last month’s victory over Real Madrid at Wembley.
“I have a serious muscle tear. There’s a big chance of recurrence,” he told Belgian reporters (via Sky Sports).
“If the muscle tears off completely, for instance, I would need surgery and it’ll take 14 weeks to recover. That’s why we try to see how we can treat the muscle.
“In two weeks there’s a scan to see how it goes. I only try to be on the pitch as fast as possible.”
Considering how Tottenham have defended during Alderweireld’s absence, those quotes will make worrying reading for Spurs fans. Hopefully surgery isn’t needed and the Belgian can return sooner rather than later.
We desperately need another back to replace Auderwield not too long till January so we can make do for time being cannot think of anybody good enough in England except Southamptons Van Dyck afraid you will have to pay Spurs but we are in critical position.
