Everton midfielder Ross Barkley will join Chelsea for £15 million, according to multiple reports.
Tottenham were strongly linked with a move for the 24-year-old last summer but a deal failed to materialise.
Barkley has just six months left on his Everton contract – his manager Sam Allardyce was resigned to losing him earlier this week.
A report in the Evening Standard claims Spurs had no plans to sign the midfielder this month “as Mauricio Pochettino has other targets he prefers.”
It will be interesting to see if Tottenham now pursue other central midfielders in January or wait until next summer.
