Tottenham scouted Valenciennes defender Sikou Niakate over the weekend, according to reports.
The 18-year-old centre-back is a former Paris-Saint Germain schoolboy. He now plays in the French second division.
Niakate has made 13 appearances for Valenciennes this season, but FootMercato claims Spurs watched him play for the B team last week.
Tottenham aren’t exactly short at centre-back – Juan Foyth looks a real prospect while Cameron Carter-Vickers has been recalled from his loan at Sheffield United.
Like Ben Wilmot, who is reportedly close to signing for Spurs from Stevenage, Niakate would likely join up with the academy rather than the first team.
