Tottenham host Newport County in the an FA Cup fourth round replay at Wembley on Wednesday night, and Mauricio Pochettino has a number of decisions to make regarding his team selection.

In a press conference on Tuesday, Mauricio Pochettino hinted there will heavy rotation but kept his cards close to his chest as to exactly who will feature.

Toby Alderweireld and Danny Rose returned to full training last week, so this would be a good chance to reintegrate the duo ahead of Saturday’s North London derby.

I’d also like to see Jan Vertonghen and Eric Dier rested – they’ve both played a lot of football recently and Spurs could do with them being fresh for the Arsenal game.

Harry Winks and Serge Aurier should feature after recovering from recent injuries, while Victor Wanyama, Erik Lamela and Fernando Llorente will likely be handed starts after affecting the Liverpool match from the bench on Sunday.

Surely Kane will be given a break with such an important game coming up. If Pochettino is to start a regular attacker, perhaps it should be Christian Eriksen for his creativity, which Spurs desperately lacked in the original tie.

Here’s our predicted XI to face Newport – what’s yours? Let us know in the comments.

  1. Your back four has three players returning from injury. Isn’t that risky and extremely disrespectful towards Newport? I think Walker-Peters will be one of the fullbacks (either Aurier or Rose will be the other) and one from Vertonghen, Sanchez or Dier will partner Foyth in central defence (Toby will be on the bench). Expect to see Moura to either start or come off the bench at some point.

  2. Just realised Moura is not eligible for Newport replay as he was signed after the first game. He will be eligible should we progress further and play Rochdale in the next round. As for Arsenal, I think Poch is more likely to rest Trippier (who was excellent in the last two games) rather than Aurier for the Arsenal game. He could give Aurier a run-out against Newport so he could regain some match fitness after his injury.

  3. Notice no Dele in this side like winks ,wanyama, Sissoko…Walker Peters in at right back Rose at left is my preference let Aurier start on the bench…important for WP confidence. Would love to see Sterling on the bench and Kane rested completely. Would prefer Lamela on the right ERICKSEN on the left so when they come off the wing they can get balls into the box for headers whichLlorente strives on….wish I had a.fit Janseen now

  4. Ideally Walker-Peters should play full 90 minutes but Rose and Aurier should only play 45, meaning Walker-Peters will switch flanks depending on whether Rose or Aurier starts first. I also think Eriksen, along with Lloris, Davies, Dembele, Alli and Kane should be rested completely ahead of Arsenal, but you can never legislate for these things as circumstances might necessitate the contrary. Playing 4-2-3-1, I would start with Walker-Peters, Foyth, Vertonghen and Rose, Wanyama and Winks, Sissoko, Lamela and Son, and Llorientes. Subs (from) – Gazzaniga, Alderveireld, Sanchez, Dier, Georgiou, Alli, Eriksen, Sterling and Kane.
