Ryan Mason has confirmed he will retire from football with immediate following the head injury he suffered in January last year.

He hasn’t played since, and after taking advice from specialists the 26-year-old has taken the difficult decision to end his playing career.
Mason made 70 appearances for Spurs, scoring four goals – he was a crucial part of the team during Mauricio Pochettino’s first season at the club.
The football community has been reacting to the news on Twitter.

I can’t really express my emotions at hearing the Ryan Mason news. A player I loved from the moment I first saw him play for the youth team, who gave me one of my happiest moments as a fan when he finally made the first team, and who sent me a lovely message when I was unwell.
