Mauricio Pochettino is strongly considering starting Lucas Moura when Tottenham travel to Crystal Palace on Sunday, according to the London Evening Standard.

Spurs paid £25 million to sign Moura from Paris Saint-Germain on deadline day in January.

The Brazilian made his full debut against Rochdale in the FA Cup last weekend. He scored an equaliser for Tottenham and generally impressed throughout.

Prior to that, Moura played the final few minutes of the 2-2 draw at Juventus in the Champions League.

He is yet to feature in the Premier League, but the Standard believes Pochettino is giving thought to handing him a start at Selhurst Park this weekend.

Moura is likely to play in one of the three attacking positions behind Harry Kane. That means he could be part of a trio with Christian Eriksen, Erik Lamela, Dele Alli or Heung-Min Son.

Pochettino very rarely leaves Eriksen and Alli out of league matches, so Lamela and Son will almost certainly be the unlucky players to miss out if Moura starts.

What do you think? Should Moura be in the team against Palace? Let us know in the comments.

  1. On second thought Son hasn’t scored away for a while so start Ericksen at 10 with Lamela on Rt and Moura left where he scored from….both can play as inverted wingers and support Kane ….Alli and Son can come on after 70mins as impact subs…7

  2. I suspect that most of your “commenters” does not actually watch a single Spurs game! “Leave Alli out”… what a complete load of tosh! For a start, Poch will never do it – he did not even leave him out when he was in poor form let alone now. And for what? Because of “his diving of late” Ridiculous!!

  3. Deli Alli was questioned about his temper. Most backs in the game want to rile Delle,so that he wiould get a yellow or red card.He has learned to control his temper & at the same time he has been able to get the backs to foul him, when he is most dangerous. It is an art that he has pefected. This is NOT DIVING but backs becoming desperate.

  4. Yes. Start Maura. In response to comments about double team, trophies then & now. I agree about level of competition re top 6. Dont know how good other teams were then, but i know Wolves had been at top for much of 50s. Would we have won double if no Munich air crash? We should have won another title in that era though. Going for treble in 62 took its toll as did big freeze in 63 producing a fixture pile up that Everton did not have

  5. I think that Eric Lamela should start as a centre forward, with son and lamela swopping places every time they receive a signal from Potch, the new( maura) signing would also play as a wing.I would only play kane & alli in the last 20 minutes if neccesary,I would give Rose a start & see how he shapes up,I would keep Davies for the cup game,as i would kane & delli.tottenham must win the FA cup this year as well as the champions league
