Tottenham are interested in signing Hamburg striker Jann-Fiete Arp, according to reports in Germany.
The 18-year-old has emerged as one of the most promising young players in Germany this season, scoring his first Bundesliga goal against Hertha Berlin back in October.
What’s more, Arpe has scored 18 goals in 19 appearances for Germany at Under-17 level.
He is expected to leave Hamburg at the end of the season if they are relegated from the Bundesliga – they are currently second from bottom.
According to a two-page spread in German newspaper Bild (via Sport Witness), Spurs are set to “intesify” their efforts to sign Arp this summer.
The teenager has apparently followed Tottenham since he was a child, and so would be open to joining the Londoners.
Fernando Llorente was brought in last summer to provide cover for Harry Kane, but the signing hasn’t really worked out (despite his FA Cup hat-trick against Rochdale last week).
If the Arp link is genuine, perhaps Spurs are eager to sign a younger striker to add depth and energy to the squad.
It will be interesting to see how this story develops in the coming weeks.
