Tottenham are interested in re-signing Luka Modric from Real Madrid this summer, according to reports in Spain.
Modric over 150 appearances for Spurs between 2008 and 2012, scoring 17 goals.
At Madrid he has emerged as one of the world’s finest central midfielders, winning three Champions League titles in five seasons.
The Croatian has struggled with injuries this term, failing to replicate his best form at the Bernabeu.
As a result, there are plenty of rumours in Spain suggesting Modric could return to the Premier League,
Spanish outlet Diario Gol claims Tottenham would welcome the 32-year-old back to the club, but they face competition from Liverpool and Arsenal.
Modric is believed to have told close friends he is ready to leave Madrid, and England is his most likely destination.
The report reads like your typical tabloid transfer rumour. However, it wouldn’t be a huge surprise if Modric does return to the Premier League before his playing days are over.
Spurs are apparently on the lookout for a long-term replacement for Mousa Dembele. Modric doesn’t exactly fit the bill, being the older of the two.
I can’t see this one happening, but it’s a story worth monitoring.
