Mauricio Pochettino has called Bordeaux winger Malcom to discuss a potential summer move to Tottenham, according to reports in France.

Malcom has emerged as one of the brightest young talents in Ligue 1 this season, scoring eight goals and providing eight assists in 27 appearances.

Spurs were tipped as favourites to sign the 21-year-old in January, but a deal failed to materialise.

Instead, Tottenham ended up buying Lucas Moura from Paris Saint-Germain for £25 million, a low price compared to Malcom’s then-reported valuation of £40 million.

But if fresh reports coming out of France are to be believed, Spurs haven’t ended their interest in Malcom yet.

French outlet RMC Sport claims Pochettino has spoken to the Brazilian on the phone in recent weeks about joining Tottenham at the end of the season.

However, Spurs could face two stumbling blocks. Firstly, Bayern Munich also hold an interest in the player.

Secondly, Bordeuax are to believed to now value Malcom at between €50 million and €55 million.

It remains to be seen whether Tottenham will indeed make another move for Malcom – is there even room for another winger following Moura’s arrival?

Regardless, it’s certainly a story worth keeping an eye on.
