Tottenham are interested in signing Koln playmaker Leonard Bittencourt this summer, according to reports in Germany.
Koln are currently in the relegation places in the Bundesliga and look almost certain to drop down to the German second tier.
And according to German outlet Kicker, one of their key players is likely to leave at the end of the season regardless of whether Koln stay up or go down.
Bittencourt, a 24-year-old attacking midfielder, has £7 million release clause in his contract that can be triggered if Koln are relegated.
Spurs are said to be keen on bringing Bittencourt to the Premier League, but the Londoners face competition from Ligue 1 side Monaco.
The former Germany Under-21 international, who has scored two goals and provided three assists so far this term, can play through the middle or on either wing.
Tottenham are certainly in need of a deputy for Christian Eriksen – Pochettino’s side are devoid of creativity whenever the Dane isn’t in the team.
Bittencourt could provide cover and competition for Eriksen, but Spurs are probably looking at other potential targets, too.
