Mauricio Pochettino will be handed a summer transfer budget of at least £120 million by Tottenham, according to the Independent.

The sale of Toby Alderweireld will make up part of that budget – Spurs have reportedly already decided to cash in on the Belgian.

As a result, Tottenham will primarily aim to recruit new centre-backs this summer, and the Independent lists a number of potential targets.

West Bromwich Albion’s Jonny Evans and Ajax teenager Matthijs De Ligt are both on Spurs’ shortlist, although the latter will probably cost a lot more than the former.

Newcastle United captain Jamaal Lascelles is also said to be a potential option.

Tottenham will apparently aim to recruit another attacker, too, and the Independent believes Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha and Jay Rodriguez of West Brom are chief among their targets.

If West Brom are relegated, Rodriguez could be available for a relatively low price. Pochettino tried to lure the 28-year-old to north London during his first season as Spurs boss.

All of the names listed appear to be quite predictable options – I’d expect plenty more names to emerge in the coming weeks.

  1. 120 m is not enough to get who and what we really need. With Walker as an example we need to keep our players motivated to stay and win. All players need a 50% increase on current salaries and we need to keep our core.

  2. I agree with Sean on wage increases but I disagree that ALL players should get 50% increases. I would go so far to say three of our core players – Kane, Vertonghen and Eriksen – deserve 100% increases. Other core players such as Sanchez, Alli, Dembele, Son and Dier (perhaps) should get 50%. But get rid of the better paid deadwoods such as Sissoko and Llorientes.

  3. Known of those targets excite me.

Zaha is very skilful but moody.

Johnny Evans would be a ok replacement.

In my eyes We need a goalkeeper, left and right back, centre mid maybe another wide man and a striker as a plan b.

Nick Pope as competition for Hugo as his general decision making and passing is irratic.

Bertrand and Shaw would be good as left and right wide men.

Another tough tackling passer in the middle. Dier and Dembele are too slow.

Antony Martial on the wing , Bale would be interesting ha ha

    Upfront Chris Wood or Mandzukic
