Tottenham are prepared to pay £44 million for Manchester United forward Anthony Martial this summer, according to the Mail.
Martial is expected to leave Old Trafford in the near future after enduring a difficult campaign in and out of the team under Jose Mourinho.
The France international has scored 11 goals in all competitions, six fewer than he managed in 2015-16, his debut season in England.
The Mail claims Martial is unhappy at United and is now actively searching for his next club.
Chelsea are said to be among the favourites to sign the 22-year-old over the summer, although the Mail believes Spurs and Juventus are willing to pay £44 million to win the race for his signature.
Martial apparently earns £65,000 a week at United. Even if that figure was increased, he is definitely within Tottenham’s wage structure.
However, Spurs would probably have to break their transfer record to sign him – Davinson Sanchez is currently the club’s record signing at £38 million.
Martial would provide a useful, high quality option for Tottenham in attack, but there are sure to be plenty of top clubs pursuing him.
Tottenham are penny pinchers. A small club.
Martial is an 80 million pound player wanted by Real, Barca and Juve.
Therefore Spurs need to pay more than them in wages and for transfer as a direct competitor in the Premier league.
90 million pounds.
