Tottenham will send scouts to watch Sporting Lisbon playmaker Bruno Fernandes this weekend, according to reports in Portugal.

Fernandes, who joined Sporting from Italian side Sampdoria last summer, has scored 16 goals and provided 12 assists in an incredible debut season in Portugal.

Portuguese outlet A Bola claims Spurs will scout the 23-year-old for the final time when Sporting take on Benfica this weekend.

Tottenham are in need of new recruits this summer as Mauricio Pochettino aims to challenge on multiple fronts next term.

However, A Bola believes Spurs could face competition from Chelsea and Liverpool for Fernandes’ signature.

The Portugal international has an £88 million release clause, but it’s extremely unlikely Tottenham will considering paying such a huge price for him.

If Fernandes makes his intention to leave Sporting clear, then the Primeira Liga giants may be forced to consider reduced bids for their star player.

Spurs bought Eric Dier from Sporting in the summer of 2014, so there is a chance lines of communication between the clubs are still open.
