Tottenham are “hopeful” Mousa Dembele will recover from injury in time to face West Bromwich Albion on Saturday, according to the London Evening Standard.
Yesterday, a report suggested the the midfielder won’t be available after twisting his ankle during Monday’s 2-0 win over Watford at Wembley.
Spurs travel to the Hawthorns for their final away game of the season aiming to strengthen their hold on fourth place in the Premier League table.
Chelsea and Liverpool face each other on Sunday, the result of which could aid Tottenham’s push for Champions League qualification.
West Brom will be relegated to the Championship if they fail to win, so the hosts will be more than up for Saturday’s contest.
Their task will be made easier if Dembele his absent, but the Standard believes Spurs are hopeful he will be available – only Harry Winks has been officially ruled out.
Dembele has been linked with a move to China this summer after putting new contract talks on hold until after the World Cup.
If his ankle injury is serious, there is a chance the 30-year-old has played his last game for Tottenham.
I expect Victor Wanyama will come straight into the side for Dembele if the Belgian doesn’t make it.
