Tottenham are interested in signing West Bromwich Albion defender Ahmed Hegazi this summer, according to ESPN.
Spurs had previously been linked with Hegazi’s teammate, Jonny Evans, but those rumours have dissipated in recent weeks.
ESPN claims Tottenham are one of a host of clubs tracking Hegazi following West Brom’s relegation to the Championship.
However, reports Hegazi will be available for just £2.5 million because of the Baggies’ relegation are said to be untrue – he is likely to cost considerably more than that.
The 27-year-old made 38 appearances in 2017-18 as West Brom finished bottom of the Premier League.
After initially signing the centre-back on loan from Egyptian side Al Ahly last summer, Albion triggered an option to sign Hegazi permanently in December.
But his West Brom career may already be close to the end if Spurs, West Ham United or Leicester City act on their interest.
Tottenham fans will be expecting a bigger name to fill the boots of Toby Alderweireld, who is expected to leave after failing to agree terms on a new contract.
