Tottenham are worried they will miss out on signing Ryan Sessegnon because of the Fulham’s owner’s bid to buy Wembley stadium, according the London Evening Standard.

Spurs have been linked with a move for Sessegnon for some time now, with many reports suggesting Mauricio Pochettino’s side are the frontrunners for the teenager’s signature.

However, Sessegnon is now expected to stay at Fulham this summer after the Londoners were promoted to the Premier League via the Championship play-offs.

The 18-year-old scored 16 goals across the campaign and provided an assist in the play-off final to help his side earn promotion to the top-flight.

It is believed Fulham may still listen to offers around the £50 million mark for Sessegnon, but Tottenham’s pursuit of the winger seems to have hit another snag.

According to the Standard, Fulham owner Shahid Khan’s bid to buy Wembley in order to host NFL games at the national stadium could cause friction with Daniel Levy, who plans to host NFL games at Spurs’ new stadium.

As a result, the two owners will be in direct competition. Whether that will affect transfer dealings between Tottenham and Fulham remains to be seen – but the roadblocks concerning Sessegnon appear to be piling up.

  1. Same old story for Spurs in the transfer market, how many months have we been after Sessengnon, we’ve even been told the deal is done come the window it’s just formalities, well blow me down it falls through again, next will be De Ligt and so on, then come the end of the window we’ll end up signing someone like Sissoko.

  2. Levy had better hurry up and learn otherwise Poc’ will be off. I gather that his new contract was only completed on the condition that Levy up his game. Meanwhile, Moanfield have already signed a player and not a trace of a signing fro THFC.
