Colombian midfielder Wilmar Barrios, who is allegedly a summer target for Tottenham, has a release clause in his contract of just £12 million.
That’s according to reports in Argentina, where Barrios has been playing since 2016.
Barrios currently plays for Boca Juniors and is the international teammate of Spurs defender Davinson Sanchez.
Previous reports suggested Mauricio Pochettino is an admirer of the Barrios and apparently plans to watch the 24-year-old in action for Colombia during this summer’s World Cup finals in Russia.
Those reports also claimed Barrios’ current employers value him at around £25 million.
Now, Argentinian outlet Ole believes he has a release clause of just £12 million, which Boca Juniors fear will be triggered this summer.
Tottenham are in need of a new central midfielder for next season, with Mousa Dembele expected to leave the club in the comings weeks.
Victor Wanyama has also been linked with a move away from Spurs, although there is a good chance the Kenyan will stay in north London.
Tottenham fans will be keeping an eye on Barrios at the World Cup, that’s for sure.
Barrios has been reported to be a very good player,so what are Spurs waiting for. Do they want another team to confirm how good he his?
buy him right away, barrios that is
He is good enough to have been brought in early and signed before the WC….to be there from start of season barring injury….
