Real Madrid have made Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino their first choice candidate to take over from Zinedine Zidane, according to multiple reports.
Zidane resigned from his post at the Bernabeu on Thursday after leading Real Madrid to a third successive Champions League title.
Pochettino signed a new contract with Spurs last week after apparently being promised increased transfer funds to overhaul his squad this summer.
However, multiple outlets – including the Guardian, the Independent and the Mirror – are now claiming Real Madrid will move for Pochettino regardless of the fact he recently agreed signed a new deal.
Madrid president Florentino Perez is said to be keen to make contact with Pochettino in order to lure him to the Spanish capital.
Talk of a release clause in the Argentinian’s contract has already been dismissed, and it is believed there is no verbal agreement between Pochettino and chairman Daniel Levy that would allow Pochettino to speak to Madrid if they are interested.
However, Spanish outlet Marca claims Levy would be willing to negotiate Pochettino’s exit if Real Madrid come in for the Tottenham boss.
Rumours of an exit aren’t likely to go away until Pochettino clarifies his future. Spurs fans will be hoping that happens sooner rather than later.
Hoping Poch stays…
A few things to consider, the job comes up every few seasons, “the once in a lifetime” offer is a load of shite.
There are other candidates- Allegri, Klopp, Conte even Wenger to name a few.
Poch appears to be a man of his word, why sign a 5 year deal and then up sticks??
Levy will attempt to block any approach.
Hoping this is enough to keep him with us.
I can’t imagine why anyone would choose to work for Perez or be disrespected by Ronaldo but I suppose if Poch has his heart set on going to Real Madrid, then the opportunity should be made available. I would expect Levy to recover at least half the cost of the new stadium in exchange for Poch’s release.

Then the biggest issue Tottenham have is keeping Erickson, Kane ,Alli etc. They would follow Poch to Madrid. Tottenham would receive a lot of cash for them all, but then it would be start from square one again. Also problem of finding a new manager.

Good move ultimately for Poch (and I’m sure he’d want to end up there) but wrong timing. Great opportunity to leave a legacy at Spurs (build his cred) and then move. Leave now and its a tough gig (los blancos would want him to replicate what Zidane did despite the ageing squad).
I believe Poch. has integrity so I would be surprised if he tried to push this through. That said, if he does want to got then it will cost Madrid big time. Poch’s contract is worth 42 million while his 3 assistants would probably add up to close to that.
