Tottenham are interested in signing Marseille midfielder Morgan Sanson this summer, according to reports in France.
Sanson played 53 times for Marseille across all competitions in 2017/18, helping his side reach the Europa League final.
He finished the season with 12 goals and three assists – impressive numbers for a central midfielder.
According to French outlet France Football, Spurs have scouted Sanson a number of times and are considering a move for the 23-year-old, who Mauricio Pochettino is said to be a fan of.
However, Tottenham face competition from Arsenal, Chelsea and Sevilla.
Pochettino signed a new five-year contract with Spurs last month and has reportedly been promised increased transfer funds to overhaul his squad this summer.
The Londoners are likely to be in need of a central midfielder – Mousa Dembele is expected to leave the club and Tottenham will require a replacement.
Dembele has just a year left on his current deal and has been heavily linked with a move to Italy or China in recent weeks.
Whether Sanson has the sufficient ability to replace Dembele is up for debate – he’s certainly more of a prolific goalscorer, but is that what Spurs need from a central midfielder?
