Tottenham have made Jack Grealish a prime summer target and believe they can sign the Aston Villa midfielder for around £15 million, according to the Telegraph.

Grealish scored three goals in 27 league appearances last season as Villa reached the Championship play-off final only to lose against Fulham.

Villa narrowly avoided the threat of administration earlier this week, and they are expected to cash in on Grealish this summer to avoid further financial troubles.

As a result, the Telegraph claims Spurs chairman Daniel Levy thinks he can sign Grealish for just £15 million, although Villa value the 22-year-old at a much higher price.

Grealish is close friends with Dele Alli and it believed he would be keen to work under Mauricio Pochettino, given the Argentinian’s track record with developing young English talent.

Pochettino has reportedly been handed increased transfer funds this summer, and a new attacker is said to be on his list of targets.

Grealish would function as deputy for Christian Eriksen more than anything else, but that’s not a bad thing – Tottenham have been crying out for more creativity in the final third in recent seasons.

  1. He’s our prime target cause Levy thinks he can get him on the cheap, it’s not about is he good enough. De Ligt is a prime example, he is the top up and coming centre half in Europe if not the world, he’s 18 years old, now Levy can sell Alderweireld for the £55m he’s been offered by Utd and buy De Ligt for £48m which is what Ajax want for him, it won’t cost Levy a penny in fact he’ll make £7m but that’s not good enough, Levy wants to make more at the expense of the quality of signing we get. Levy if you’re thinking of buying second rate players don’t bother, make even more money and sign no one.

  2. As a villa fan , i obviously would love to see him stay but remember as good as hes been this season for villa and he was very good , showed great intelligence on the ball and plays with his head up .I dont see him being ready for a top 4 team yet . He needs to add goals to his game to be a real danger to opposition .Maybe hel do that at spurs but surely if you lot are to really challenge its a higher quality already proven talent that is required ..just a thought.Cant see him being sold for less than 20 anyway so Levy might have to re think the approach. The investment villa got of 50mil staves off admin and clears a bit of room in FFP rules too so not desperate to offload yet .

    • Would the same not have been said about Dele when we bought him from MK, or indeed Trippier and Davies who have both grown. I agree we need to buy proven quality too, but at 22 Grealish has lots of time to grow into the Tottenham way of playing. We bought proven players in Lucas Moura, Fernando Llorente and Serge Aurier last season yet its the young lad Davinson Sanchez who’s made his mark on the first team most so far. He won’t be replacing anyone and we already have a world class player in Eriksen in his position so its not like he’s replacing anyone (maybe Sissoko, who offers little going forward). We have a strong first XI with some decent backup, young players improving and getting better, we don’t really have any problem areas and not so much dead wood as in seasons past, so its all about improving the quality of depth than trying to buy a trophy. Longterm the new stadium will be considered as done on the cheap, theres also 2 hotels and i think 3 high rise flats to be built on site
