Tottenham are interested in signing Barcelona midfielder Rafinha Alcantara this summer, according to reports in Spain.

Rafinha, the brother of Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara, spent the second half of the 2017/18 season on loan at Inter Milan, who reportedly have an option to sign him permanently €35 million (£30.8m).

During his short time at Inter, Rafinha made 16 appearances and scored two goals as the Italian giants qualified for next season’s Champions League.

According to Spanish outlet Sport, Inter are trying to negotiate a lower price than the fee previously agreed with Barcelona, who are said to be unhappy with the Serie A club.

As a result, there is a chance Rafinha could move elsewhere his summer, and Spurs are believed to hold an interest in the 25-year-old.

Sport claims Mauricio Pochettino is an admirer of Rafinha amid reports the Tottenham manager is set to overhaul his squad this summer.

Spurs have also been linked with Barcelona’s Andre Gomes, although those rumours have gone quiet in recent weeks.

It will be interesting to see if the British press picks up on the Rafinha story – for now it remains exclusive to Spain.
