Tottenham are monitoring the situation of Borussia Dortmund midfielder Mario Gotze, according to football.london.

Gotze scored the winning goal for Germany in the 2014 World Cup final, but his reputation has since receded following a difficult spell involving a combination of illness and injuries.

The 26-year-old’s career took a positive step when he rejoined Dortmund from Bayern Munich in summer of 2016, although things haven’t really worked out.

He made only 23 league appearances for Dortmund in 2017/18, scoring just twice.

As a result, it is believed Gotze is considering a move to the Premier League this summer in an attempt to reignite his stagnating career.

And according to football.london’s Aladair Gold, who has become a reliable source of Spurs-related news of late, Tottenham are keeping tabs on Gotze’s situation.

Mauricio Pochettino is said to be in the market for a new attacking player this summer – Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish has been heavily linked in recent days.

Gotze would provide far more experience on the European stage than Grealish, although his injury record means any move for the German would be a gamble.
