Tottenham are interested in signing Liverpool youngster Rhian Brewster, according to the Sun.
Brewster, 18, is yet to sign his first professional contract with Liverpool. He is said to be seeking assurances from Jurgen Klopp about a possible place in the Reds’ first-team squad next season.
The Sun claims Brewster is more interested in playing first-team football than cashing in on a big contract, so whether he stays at Anfield or leaves could depend on his chances of breaking into Liverpool’s senior squad next term.
As a result, Spurs have entered the race to sign the teenager. The Londoners could face competition from their fierce rivals Arsenal.
Mauricio Pochettino is believed to be targeting an attacker to provide cover and competition for Harry Kane. Fernando Llorente is expected to be sold, although the Spaniard has suggested he wants to stay for the final year of his contract.
Brewster won the Golden Boot at the Under-17 World Cup by scoring eight goals for champions England.
Signing the promising young striker would be a real coup for Tottenham. However, Brewster would have to settle for a lot of time on the bench with Kane almost impossible to displace.
For that reason, I can’t see him being too keen on joining Spurs this summer.
