Tottenham are leading the race to sign Aston Villa Jack Grealish but the clubs are still some way apart on a transfer fee, according to the Mail.
Grealish emerged as a priority target for Spurs last month, but talk of a potential deal has gone quiet in recent weeks.
That was until Mail journalist Laurie Whitwell wrote the Tweet below, suggesting Tottenham are set to sign Grealish for as little as £20 million.
Tottenham have emerged as clear frontrunners to sign Jack Grealish. Reckon it gets done around £20m. Negotiations on fee ahead #thfc #avfc More @MailSport

However, Whitwell’s subsequent report claims Villa are still holding out for £30 million.
The Championship club appear to be in a bit of a mess at the moment – the Mail’s story claims they need to raise £40 million because of cash-flow problems involving the owner.
A number of Villa’s executive staff members have been laid off, so the chances of any deals being done – in or out – are likely to be slim at the moment.
However, the Mail claims Spurs are willing to wait until nearer the end of the transfer window to get a deal for Grealish over the line.
That sounds very much like a Daniel Levy-style transfer to me.
So it’s no news week again for Spurs.
Sorry I clicked on the headline. It happens when you call a 5M rated player a 30M rated player.
Grealish has done well in the Championship. He may be a developable prospect. Nobody is going to pay anywhere near 30M for him.
